About
Tess Seltzer (she/her)

For as long as I can remember, I have loved design. At 5 years old, my favorite shoes were blue-strapped platform wooden sandals and all my fingers were adorned with silver rings (read: fashion icon). My childhood was filled with creativity– painting with my grandma, creating a character "Quinn Fields" and illustrating hundreds of outfits for her, and taking classes in drawing, cooking, and rollercoaster design.
At the University of Washington, I studied medical anthropology and global health on the pre-prosthetics and orthotics track with heavy coursework in engineering and Hebrew. For 3.5 years, I deep-dived into robotics at Seattle Children's where I designed devices to automate malaria research.
Alongside this, I started my own jewelry business "Tessie's Tassels" selling playful, handcrafted earrings. My repertoire has now expanded to include rings, bracelets, and necklaces.

This year, I have been attending Seattle Fashion Academy to build my technical skills in fashion design. I am passionate about sustainable and inclusive design and hope to start applying my design skills to this industry as well.

I love nothing more than jumping into something new and getting my hands dirty. In the past couple years I have started woodworking, wheel throwing, candle making, sewing, knitting, and silversmithing. I'm always looking for fun new projects to work on and fun new experts to connect with.
