framing the apocalypse
wearable art piece
"Framing the Apocalypse: the End or a New Beginning" was awarded the finale spot in Juneau's 2024 Wearable Art runway show with the theme neon apocalypse.
Thinking about the state of our planet consumes with me grief and anxiety, yet Earth is profoundly resilient. This piece embodies this duality of hope and despair. Using the lens of my experience as a picture framer, I explore the tug-of-war between light and dark, life and death, past and future, nostalgia and movement toward change.
Materials include hand-built clay Alaskan wildflowers and over 400 animal bones.
